25th Annual Orr Insurance Heartburn Day

This event is a fun filled community event in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Forty area restaurants and service clubs cook up their best chili recipes which are judged by a panel of local personalities and the public.

There will be silent auction and great entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.  All proceeds raised go directly to lifesaving heart disease and stroke research.

When: Feb. 4

Admission/Cost: $2 Donation, Chili portions are $1 each or 8 for $6

Soup’s On 2012 Event

As described by The Local-Come-Lately, “Soup’s On! is an amazing soup-making contest that has been taking place for the past 16 years as a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada. Professionals and amateurs alike bring-on their finest soup creations and compete for titles such as Best Hearty Soup, Best Creamy Soup, Best Vegetarian Soup, and the coveted People’s Choice.”

This popular event will feature more than 30 vendors serving up 50+ types of soup.

“Musical entertainment, a silent auction, a kids’ area and “soup-er” raffle” are also part of the event according to the Stratford Beacon Herald.

When: Saturday, January 14, 2012

Annie Get Your Gun

Annie Get Your Gun is a musical with lyrics & music written by Irving Berlin and a book by Herbert Fields and his sister Dorothy Fields. The story is a fictionalized version of the life of Annie Oakley (1860–1926), who was a sharpshooter from Ohio, and her husband, Frank Butler.

The Stratford Country Club, in partnership with the City of Stratford, will be hosting the 2012 The Dominion Tankard Ontario Men’s Championship at the Stratford Rotary Complex (SRC). Well equipped, with an NHL size ice pad and seating for over 1,300, everyone on the SRC staff and 2012 The Dominion Tankard host committee are confident the spectators will be treated to some great curling.

After checking out the curling, come join us in The Bard’s Brew House at the SRC. The Bard’s Brew House will be the hub for the week’s social activities, including food, beverage and entertainment! Plans are already underway to showcase some great local talent from the Stratford Country Club Chef’s culinary offerings to some of our community’s most brilliant musicians and entertainers, we promise to keep you on the edge of your seat from before the first stone is thrown until after the trophy has been presented.
